Families can enjoy a Houseboating Thanksgiving with “Bird on a Boat” at Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas

Special Getaway Package makes Eating Turkey on Lake Powell a Holiday

Page, Ariz. – Sept. 21, 2009 – This Thanksgiving, Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas, managed by ARAMARK Parks and Destinations, invites families and travelers to start a new holiday tradition with the “Bird on a Boat” houseboating adventure. The package includes special savings and a turkey feast for the entire family. Available the week of Thanksgiving, 2009, families can plan a five-day, four-night houseboating excursion for the price of a three-day trip on select houseboat rentals.

Starting at $1,850, the “Bird on a Boat” houseboating package*, includes a five-day, four-night trip for the price of three days when guests book the 48’ Navigator, 53’ Adventurer or the 59’ Discovery XL model houseboats. The package also includes a complete Thanksgiving dinner for the entire family and the option to include a 19’ powerboat rental for $149 per day.

The turkey meal, which is pre-prepared and ready to heat and serve on the houseboat, includes a 15-pound turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, a green salad with dressing, two pumpkin pies with whipped cream, and rolls and butter. Departures must be made on Tuesday or Wednesday, November 24 or 25, and reservations must be booked seven business days before arrival. To book, guests can call 1-800-269-0467 or visit www.lakepowell.com/birdonaboat.cfm using promo code: TurkeyBoat.

Lake Powell’s water levels are up 30 feet, which means houseboaters new and old alike are still enjoying access to remote and unspoiled canyons and beaches, tours of Rainbow Bridge National Monument, and the opening of Castle Rock Cut - a shortcut that shaves 12 miles off travel between the upper and lower ends of the lake.

“With water levels expected to remain high throughout the winter season, houseboaters will enjoy the moderate climate, lack of crowds, and sweet savings at Lake Powell this Thanksgiving,” said David Sloma, Vice President of Operations at Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas. “Lake Powell Resort offers an array of watersport activities, scenic cruises, and tours that will keep the entire family entertained and there is no better time to start a new tradition by enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday on a houseboat at Lake Powell.”

Starting at $1,850, guests can book the 48’ Navigator houseboat or 53’ Adventurer houseboat rentals as part of the “Bird on a Boat” package. The Navigator-class houseboats sleep up to eight and offer most of the first-rate amenities of the larger class vessels, but in a smaller, more nimble craft. The 53’ Adventurer Class houseboats offer spacious living for up to 10 people in a more affordable model that offers spacious plush interior for an extra level of comfort, RV style air conditioning, a CD player and kitchen appliances.

Travelers seeking a more luxurious houseboat experience will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday on a 59’ Discovery XL class model, which sleeps up to 12 guests. Starting at $2,195 the 59’ Discovery XL features two staterooms, two lower berths, one-and-a-half bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, central heating and air conditioning, comfortable interior, wet bar, TV, VCR and CD sound system.

*Disclaimer: Departures from Wahweap only. Additional meals are available for $15 per person plus 6% Energy Surcharge and 6.75% sales tax.  Based on limited availability. Package does not include fuel, taxes, and fees. No arrivals or departures on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009. Houseboats have a 12 person capacity while underway.
