Page, Ariz. – August 11, 2010 – Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas announces new fall dates for the “Introduction to Houseboating” weekend program, a one-of-a-kind learning experience that combines hands-on instruction with a licensed captain and insider tips for exploring Lake Powell’s hidden canyons and secluded beaches.
Back by popular demand, the “Introduction to Houseboating Program” fall dates are available the weekends of Sept. 24 at Bullfrog Marina in Utah, and Oct. 1 and 8 at Wahweap Marina, on the Arizona-Utah border. The “Introduction to Houseboating” weekend package* is priced at $299 and includes a two-night stay at Lake Powell Resort or Defiance House Lodge and daily breakfast for two. Participants can also explore the lake on their own by adding a full-day powerboat rental for more than 60 percent off peak season rates. Prices start at $149 for a full-day 19’ powerboat rental at Wahweap Marina and $199 for a full-day 20’ powerboat rental at Bullfrog Marina.
The “Introduction to Houseboating” program allows guests to check-in Friday evening and enjoy dinner at Lake Powell Resort’s newly-redecorated Rainbow Room or Defiance House Lodge’s Anasazi Restaurant. On Saturday morning, participants will kick off the weekend with a six-hour training course on one of Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas’ premier houseboats.
A licensed captain and deckhand will offer firsthand training on how to maneuver, anchor and dock the houseboat, along with tips on tying and towing a powerboat. A boxed lunch is provided and guests can enjoy downtime to relax and sunbathe on the deck of the houseboat or take photos of the stunning scenery. Participants can also book a future houseboating trip at special rates for their preferred dates, as long as they book within four weeks of completing the program.
